The novel focuses on former adventurer and treasure hunter Max Gibson as he investigates the brutal deaths of one of his dead friend’s family members. Exciting stuff!Įver wondered what fantasy noir would be like, with dragons, elves, halflings, dwarves and zombies? Matt Forbeck presents exactly that scenario in his latest self-published novel, set in his Shotguns & Sorcery RPG setting. I’ve read the first trilogy, Matt Forbeck’s Brave New World, and it’s superb superhero fiction. As the first Shotguns & Sorcery novel, this is the fourth in his 12-for-12 project in which he aimed to write one 50,000-word novel a month. I have yet to read any of his work that I didn’t like, and he has been the most consistent author for me to date, not to mention that he’s also the one I’ve reviewed the most! That creates certain expectations of course, and Hard Times In Dragon City fulfills those expectations quite nicely. I’m a huge fan of Matt Forbeck’s work: whether it’s novels or comics.

All US tanks were stabilized at least by 1944. Except for the 105mm-equipped M4 Sherman tanks, all U.S.-built tanks had a stabilization system for gun elevation usable at low speeds. The primary armament of most US tanks was stabilized in elevation starting with the M3A1 Light Tank and the M3 Medium tank in November 1941. The gunner of the early Matilda II tank elevated and depressed the gun by hand, and had a shoulder pad by which he could support it steadily as the tank moved while he stood. Due to the need to fire while in motion, tanks in World War II made some use of stabilization, but it became commonplace in later decades such as the cold war period. Moving land-based systems tend to require more specialized stabilization. For naval applications see ship gun fire-control system. Compensates for the motion of the platformĪ gun stabilizer is a device that facilitates aiming an artillery piece by compensating for the motion of the platform on which it is mounted. Radioactive material can last in the air for a long time, so FEMA says high levels of protection require HEPA air filters or a functional equivalent.Watch Video: Wisconsin family finds fallout shelter fully stocked But by the 1970s, fallout shelters became a thing of the past when Congress stopped funding the program.Īrchitecture standards for nuclear fallout shelters were set decades ago and their scientific backing hasn’t changed. The now-defunct Office of Civil Defense - a precursor to the Federal Emergency Management Agency, or FEMA - once estimated that 230,000 sites in New York City were designated fallout shelters. That it was a fraud that there is no such thing as survivability.” Jeffrey Kroessler, an associate professor who specializes in New York City history and is the interim chief librarian at John Jay College. “I'm really struck at the enormous fraud that was perpetrated on the public,” says Dr. In truth, it didn't matter if the shelters worked or not if a nuclear bomb went off, most people would be dead from the initial blast.įallout shelter signs are the last remnants of an ill-conceived program that was designed to quell the fears and anxieties of Americans who had little faith in the shelters to begin with. Thousands of these black-and-yellow signs still remain on structures throughout the city’s five boroughs, marking locations where New Yorkers could take refuge from the deadly radioactivity of a nuke - more than 50 years ago.īack then, these shelters were mostly concrete windowless rooms packed with canned goods and water supplies to sustain people for days - but they were never all they were cracked up to be in terms of protection. But if an atomic bomb does explode in the city, experts advise against taking cover in a building with a fallout shelter sign. This summer, New York City officials released a public service announcement about what people should do in case of nuclear Armageddon. As of iOS 5, separate Music and Videos apps are standardized across all iOS-powered products. īefore the release of iOS 5, the iPod branding was used for the media player included with the iPhone and iPad, which was separated into apps named "Music" and "Videos" on the iPod Touch. Prior to macOS 10.15, Apple's iTunes software (and other alternative software) could be used to transfer music, photos, videos, games, contact information, e-mail settings, Web bookmarks, and calendars to the devices supporting these features from computers using certain versions of Apple macOS and Microsoft Windows operating systems. The iPod is a discontinued series of portable media players and multi-purpose mobile devices designed and marketed by Apple Inc. Pulse Rifle - This sort of served as my last resort weapon in DS1, mostly because I never really sunk too many nodes, but it's pretty awesome in DS2. It's actually not terrible against the slashers/pukers/spitters, it's just really slow to aim and fire, so it's kind of a bad choice to be walking around with it as your primary weapon. So far it's been a pretty shitty choice, as I've seen maybe 4 of those things in 7 chapters. Line Gun - I really don't know if I need to keep this thing around, I used it in the original because it was literally the only weapon I knew of that could deal with the babies(I don't know if that's the name, but the 3 pronged necros that spit at you) without wasting tons of ammo. Even though I feel like a stick in the mud, I've stuck to something similar to my DS1 arsenal Plasma Cutter for just about everything that wasn't the 3 tentacled thing, a pack, or those flood looking things that spawn from the pregnants. In a first for the series, players can play the game with friends, and can combine their magic and spells to make them more powerful. The game also features modes outside of combat, including broomstick flying, and underwater swimming. Levels are played from parts of the novel the game is based on, with levels ranging from the Quidditch World cup, the Prefect’s bathroom, and the Herbology greenhouses which can be entered from the in-game “pensieve”. The game is split up into particular levels, rather than freeroaming around Hogwarts castle like in earlier games. Gameplay in the Goblet of Fire is much more action-orientated, which is a change from the puzzle and adventure elements found in previous games of the series. Improved graphics mean the characters themselves more closely resemble their film counterparts than in previous games. The game uses an improved version of the group casting mechanic found in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. The game follows the events and characters of novel, and film, with the player controlling Harry Potter (voiced by Daniel Larner), Hermione Granger (Harper Marshall), and Ron Weasley (Gregg Chillin). It received mixed reviews from critics, with reviewers enjoying the scope of the spells and gameplay, but being less impressed by the short length, and the lack of free roaming components found in previous installments. The game was released for Game Boy Advance, GameCube, Microsoft Windows, Nintendo DS, PlayStation 2, Xbox, and PlayStation Portable. It is based on the 2005 film of the same name. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire is a 2005 action-adventure video game published by Electronic Arts. The current price for a one-day, one-park ticket is between $109 and $159, depending on demand. The company’s flagship resort in Orlando, Florida, already hiked up ticket prices in February, making this the second time in a calendar year that entry into the “most magical place on earth” has become more expensive.Ī Disney spokesperson said that this is driven by continued strong demand and significant investment across the company’s theme parks in recent years. That’s when prices on most ticket types will be increasing, including single-day tickets, multi-day passes and annual pass renewals. That's a lot of bureaucracy to tackle every day at 7am!
